Paris Kiss....

A Blog Post by Ivan Muller

The last time I was in Paris, I carried a compact digital camera with me all the time.

I chose this camera because I thought it would be nice to have a small 'carry everywhere' camera. In the end it was the only camera I used in Paris.

It also had nice features like an excellent grip, image stabilization and a moderate zoom lens. But what worked best with this camera was that I looked just like anyone of the other thousands of tourists with consumer cameras and thus nobody gave me a second look.....

Natural Beauty

A Blog Post by Ivan Muller

My front door is made of glass and is much wider and higher than normal. It leads into a passage that widens towards the end and that was designed to be a gallery of sorts. I have painted it with 'crushed quarry stone' paint that is almost the colour of cement but a bit warmer and darker. It makes for a nice backdrop and I photograph my family and visitors against it with the big glass door supplying all the light.

Enclosed two beautiful girls, one is my 15 year old daughter Karla and the other a school friend of my eldest daughter, that came to visit from the Eastern Cape, Wawa.

Against the Wall

A Blog Post by Ivan Muller

On the 12th of June it was my sister, Madelein's birthday, and she threw a party. It was to be a large family gathering and I thought I had better take my camera with. I hoped that with a bit of perseverance I could make portraits of everyone there. In the end I bribed everyone with photographic prints in exchange for portraits!

I have started a series of simple portraits with just plain walls for a background and available or natural light. My sisters house is large and modern with big windows that allows lots of light to enter. Ideal for this type of portraiture...
